Carl Hartmann started exporting dolls in Neustadt in 1899 and later registered the trade names Hanson, Erika, Globe Baby, Thüringia and Palodian Baby.
Most commonly found are 'Globe Babies', bisque dolls dressed (mostly) in regional costumes.
The bisque (or papier-maché) heads were mainly supplied by Kämmer & Reinhardt.
