Mignonnette dolls are antique small pocket dolls. Since the last quarter of the 19th century, pocket dolls have reigned over an idealised microcosm made up of houses, rooms, furniture, decorations and clothing.
Pocket dolls were introduced on the Western market around 1876, at the same time as the first detailed baby dolls. The most sought-after dolls are made in bisque, while less expensive are produced with a semi-articulated body.
