Schuco Examico

Schuco made small clockwork cars. The Schuco Examico 4001 is an elegant car with streamlined curves and although it is only about 150cms in length, this model could be driven with its own brake, gearbox and clutch! Of course this must have been a exciting toy, especially as it was available in the latter part of the 1930s. Models: 4001, 4002, 4003, 4004.

Schuco keys fit about all clockwork car they made from the 30's to the 50's I had found. I kept one for testing on these cars and it has wound all those variations I had mention for all those years made

I have a Schuco Examico 4001 made in U.S. Zone Germany. I believe it was given to me in 1956 (but could be as late as 1958). I have lost the key. Does anyone know the shape/diameter of the key spindle so I can find something else as a replacement key to see it it still works?
You could also search here and ask the sellers if they know if it'll fit your car: Schuco keys.

J'aimerais avoir des informations sur une version "rallye" n° 177 de la voiture SCHUCO EXAMICO 4001. Je précise que cette version comporte notamment une roue de secours sur la malle arriere.Merci d'avance.

I have an examining 4001 replica toy in red. It is in lovely working condition and I would like to know when it was made. It is marked made in West Germany on the base which is a clue. Many thanks. Stuart
No idea, sorry. Probably somewhere in the 1990s or later. They put 'Made in Western Germany' also on the newer replicas.

I have a Schuco Tacho Examico 2002 that was given to me in the early 60s, but it doesn't have a key. Are they available, and what key works with it? Thank you
