Toy sewing machines

At the start of the 19th century, clothing was made by hand. Pants, dresses, shirts, everything was stitched together using just a needle and thread. But finally, in 1846, Elias Howe changed the world. He came up with another, faster and more easier way to make clothes. Howe patented the very first sewing machine and the industry that followed made the mass production of clothing possible on a scale never seen before.

Toy sewing machines

Of course, toy manufacturers couldn't stay behind and started producing toy sewing machines. After the second world war, there were lots of toy sewing machine firms and they were mainly in the UK. Unfortunately, by the late 1950’s they couldn't compete any longer with cheaper imports from Japan.

Hi, you are the only search results I have found so far for the Little Lady childs toy sewing machine. Do you have any more information about these. We have one from a friends mother who was a retired Chicago Public School teacher. Her son it was from the school. This last sale lists it as a toy. I would love to get more information, and figure the best way to sell. Anything information would be appreciated! Thank you
No idea, sorry... if another visitor know more, I'll let you know. Ebay would be a good place to sell.

I have a Gozan miniature sewing machine with instructions. Do you have any knowledge on this machine?
Hi, I only know Gozan is or was a Spanish toy manufacturer. If you want to find our more about your sewing machine, search Google Images: Gozan maquina de coser. Maybe you'll find yours.

Am looking for copy of instructions for 1948 toy Casige sewing machine, made in “ British zone” with red poppies and scalloped base. To make sure I thread it correctly! Thanks.
I'm sorry, I can't find one either... but I think you can use one for a Singer toy sewing machine, they are quite similar. Google 'singer toy sewing machine instructions' and you might find some threading diagrams. Good luck!

I just found a green cast metal sewing machine with instruction booklet calling it "The Miniature Sewing Machine." Image searches indicate it might be a Pallitoy manufactured in the 1950s in Japan? Any info would be much appreciated.
Yes, Palitoy made toy sewing machines in the 1950s. There are collectors of these machines and can fetch (depending on state, box, etc.) between 20 to 150 USD.

I have part of a windup tin sewmachine. It used to have a lady sitting on the seat and the needle would go up and down when it was going. Can you help me find a picture of it, it has LUCKY on the sewing machine.
Maybe you can find your machine on Google images.
